About the Cottage

Fossil Cottage, 5 Star Self Catering

Fossil Cottage is a Barn conversion, which was completed in 2004.

On its own in a field the quiet rural setting will suit anyone that wants to get away from it all.

RELAX AT THE LAP OF NATURE

Marcross is a pretty village, from the cottage there is a lovely walk to the beach at Nash Point, walking through an unspoiled woodland from early spring the first of the wild flowers will make your stroll even more enjoyable.

For a more dramatic first glimpse of Nash Point and the Bristol Channel stay on the road and you’ll find yourselves on the cliff tops, looking down on a very special beach.

Inside the Cottage

On entering the Cottage there is a wooden floored area as you step in and then you step on to a fitted carpet.

To the left is a fitted kitchen with a cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine, kettle, toaster etc. We also have a drying room/boot room which is also useful for storage of bikes & sports equipment etc.

The slab floor and marble tiles have been chosen to reflect the colour of the natural limestone walls outside.

To the right there is a staircase, which will take you to the bedrooms and the bathroom, which is straight ahead at the top of the stairs.

Turn left and you are in the twin bedroom and turn right you are in the spacious and bright master bedroom, complete with King-Size bed.

All the upstairs rooms have Velux roof windows.

The master bedroom has a half-glazed door, which takes you onto the patio and also gives you the view of the neighboring field, which is often occupied by sheep or cattle.

In the springtime lambs will delight you as they playfully race around the field.

Return to the ground floor and turn right and you will see double doors which lead into the lounge.

The lounge has been decorated in neutral colours to create a calm and relaxing place to unwind.

Once again neutral colours have been chosen to complement the stonework of the cottage and surrounding walls.

The colour scheme is calm and mellow with comfortable furnishings that will ensure your relaxation.

A half-glazed door leads onto a small patio area, in nice weather it’s a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by.

A further two additional sleeping spaces in the form of a sofa bed can be utilised in the event of guests who are unable to negotiate the staircase.

A shower room and toilet on the ground floor will also be useful to restricted mobility.

The front of Fossil Cottage has a paved path and a patio area.

Gravel is laid each side of the path, beyond the gravel path is a small lawn area

It is edged with tree bark and beyond that is an area of meadow which is seeded with grass and wild flowers.

To the right of the cottage a stone stairway has two landings with seating where visitors can sit and relax.

The first landing has a bench and the second has a bistro set.

Low walls, which define the boundaries, are also comfortable to sit on.

One of the landings is immediately outside the master bedroom and is the perfect place to sit and read or enjoy an early morning cup of tea or coffee.

For the real early bird’s it’s also a good spot to see the sunrise.

A Daily Mail feature claims that Nash point is one of the 10 best places to view a sunset in the UK and it’s certainly worth taking your cameras to capture this colourful scene.

The cottage has ample gravelled parking and a large lawn.

There is a path leading to the doorways and a small patio area outside the lounge.

Low walls comfortable to sit on in addition to picnic benches allow guests to sit and relax almost anywhere outside the cottage.

We have two barbecue areas, one is in the guise of a wishing well at the front of the property and there is a more private area at the rear of the cottage which is lovely to use on a summer evening to catch the last rays of sunshine.

If you are here for the beaches and scenery and walks along our costal paths enjoying bird watching and photography you won’t be disappointed.
